Description: On 8th April 2019, a debate competition was organized by HOPE Initiave (Health Oriented Programme and Education) in auditorium of Holy Family College of Nursing. The topic for the participants of the debate competition was ‘Alternative Medicine a Boon or a Bane’. Students from B.Sc 3rd year and GNM 1st year attended the programme. The students confidently participated in the debate. They wonderfully spoke on the topic and each student presented different views about alternative medicine. Some participants argued for the motion and some against the motion. The organizers, judges and the audience highly appreciated the debate. It was really interesting to watch the young generation debating on whether alternative medicine should be adopted or to be refused. Students expressed the need to understand the importance of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani and Siddha. Nowadays public is more inclined towards the natural therapy as they have lesser side effects and cost effective and some of the students expressed their views towards the allopathic treatment as it can cure the diseases early, it takes less time in diagnosis and treatment. After listening to all the participants it was difficult for the judges to finalize the results and judges wanted to give prize to everyone. Students who won the debate competition were facilitated with the medals and certificates other also got the consolation prize with the certificates and medals. Students who stood first was Ms. Rinki Gupta from B.Sc 3rd year, second position was given to Ms. Anisha Samuel from B.Sc 3rd year and third position was given to Ms. Veronica Antony GNM 3rd year. Students who got consolation were Ms. Shikku, B.Sc 3rd year, Ms. Sharmishtha, B.Sc 3rd year and Ms. Lipika ,GNM 2nd year. It was an interactive debate, audience highly appreciated the debate
